The second part of the cycle of "Forsytes" — "A Modern Comedy". The first two of the novel "The White Monkey", "The Silver Spoon" and the story "A Silent Wooing".

The novel "The White Monkey" — the first work of the series "A Modern Comedy" — the story is about the young generation of the Forsyte clan, freed from the burden of the views and prejudices of senior representatives of the genus, but hopelessly entangled in a joyful, hedonistic madness "new era"...

"The Silver Spoon" — the continuation of the novel "The White Monkey" is the second volume of "A Modern Comedy", included in the series the Chronicles of the Forsyte family. In 1924, with sufficient distinctness was aware that Britain has changed a lot. She was not the one pre-war, good old England. There was something irreversible in the social behavior of the masses, in the moral life of the whole country. Michael Mont was a member of Parliament and tries to enforce the idea of faggotism. His wife Fleur, though, and pays attention to her little son kit, with far more interest is given to secular life, taking in her salon celebrities. One of the visitors to her salon, a young and attractive woman from an aristocratic family, Marjorie Farrar, allowed behind Fleur to call her "squirt". Soames Forsyte accidentally hears is an insult and puts Marjorie of the home of his daughter, having branded as a traitor. This is a typical high-society scandal and it leads to judicial proceedings regarding defamation. In this case are prepared and many others. But in fact it is that high society and the environment is also greatly changed and moral categories long been overturned. However, pride and hypocrisy have not disappeared. Their struggle unfolds in the pages of the book.
