This book includes a collection of articles of "Revolution, and other essays", the novel "The Iron Heel", the story "The Cruise of the Snark" and the play "Theft".
The novel "The Iron Heel" is supposedly the diary of the wife of Ernest Everhard, one of the leaders of the socialist revolution in the U.S. in the early 20th century. The diary was hidden, and only after 700 years, discovered and published already in the state of victorious socialism.
"The Cruise of the Snark" — autobiographical illustrated novel by Jack London, first published in 1911, which describes his journey across the South Pacific ocean on the "Snark". In this journey of London accompanied by his wife Charmian and a small crew. London describes the many difficulties in the construction of "Snark", the marine navigation training, acquisition of experience of healing away from civilization and other details of this adventure. He visits exotic places, including Hawaii and the Solomon Islands, and made them the pictures give an idea of those remote corners of the Pacific ocean at the beginning of the twentieth century.
The action in the play, "Theft" occurs in the U.S. in 1910. Howard Knox, known for his socialist views, is going to give a speech denouncing the financial magnate Starkwether. Competitors of Sterkwater managed to steal secret correspondence that revealed his dark financial machinations, which they pass to Knox. However, the day before the performance assistant Starkwether Hubbard stealing dirt from a hotel room, where he stopped Knox. Learns about the theft Sterkwater daughter Margaret Chalmers. She had long tired of her husband, a puppet in the hands of her mighty father, and the life behind the facade of a respectable bourgeois family. Margaret is attracted to the remarkable personality Howard Knox, whom she compares with Abraham Lincoln. Attraction turns into passion. Margaret forgets about decency and given to the senses. She steals the documents from the table of the father and willing to go through humiliation for the sake of truth.
